Cranio - Sacral Therapy for Newborns and Infants
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, light touch method of bodywork that is aimed at improving the functions of the nervous system. It is an effective, safe therapy for newborns and infants. The transition from being completely safe in mama’s womb to the outside world is a huge shock to the system!
It is A LOT of work being a baby… imagine doubling your weight in just a couple of months! A baby’s skull is consists of 29 different bones, which are separated by joints called sutures. The bones of the skull are still quite mobile in newborns and craniosacral work ensures that the bones and joints of the skull are able to move freely.
This work is so gentle that your baby may even sleep through the entire treatment! Craniosacral therapy can be particularly helpful for digestive issues, poor latch/breastfeeding difficulties, ‘colic,’ torticollis, birth trauma, chronic ear infections, and sleep issues.
Prenatal Chiropractic
During pregnancy, your body may become misaligned as your center of gravity changes. Prenatal chiropractic care can reduce back pain and result in shortened labor. Visiting a prenatal chiropractor prepares the pelvis for an easier pregnancy and birth by creating a state of balance in the bony pelvis, muscles and ligaments. Proper pelvic alignment allows for a faster labor, with less chance of awkward fetal positioning.
One study showed that women who were adjusted during pregnancy had 25% shorter labors than women who were not. This percentage went up to 36% in women who were delivering their second or third babies.

The importance of chiropractic care during pregnancy:
Studies show that up to 80% of women will experience back pain during their pregnancies. It should go without saying that your body changes during pregnancy. The average weight gain of 25-35 pounds, combined with the stress placed on a woman’s body by the baby, can result in significant discomfort. Regular chiropractic care during pregnancy can decrease and even prevent the common aches and pains that go along with pregnancy.
Throughout pregnancy, mama-to-be’s center of gravity changes from day to day, as the belly grows and the spinal curves shift. Many women look for alternatives to pain medications and drugs during pregnancy. Prenatal chiropractic care is a safe and natural alternative for pain relief.
Common issues that respond well to prenatal chiropractic care include: low back pain, hip pain, sciatica, mid back and rib pain, and pubic symphysis dysfunction.
Of course, once your baby is born, you will want to make an appointment for a postpartum chiropractic check up.
Webster Technique
The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces interference to the nervous system, balances out pelvic muscles and ligaments which in turn removes torsion to the uterus, reducing the potential for intra-uterine constraint and allows the baby to get into the best possible position for birth.
