How Chiropractic Works

Chiropractic is based on the principle that your body is designed to heal itself. When there is additional stress on our bodies; whether in the form of physical, emotional, or physiological stress, our body’s ability to heal itself is diminished. Research shows that the body can only heal itself when the skeletal system is correctly aligned and the nervous system is functioning properly. An adjustment is a specific, gentle force on a joint to correct a spinal misalignment. These “misalignments” in your body are called subluxations. The goal of the chiropractic adjustment is to correct the spinal subluxations detected during the examination.

Applied KInesiology

Applied kinesiology is a complimentary holistic health therapy which uses various forms of muscle testing to identify imbalances in the body’s structural, chemical, and emotional energies. By using these tests, the therapist can establish the body’s priority healing needs, and go on to evaluate the changes in energy flows that result from any therapeutic procedures applied. Applied kinesiology can be practiced as part of an overall wellness program in addition to massage therapy and chiropractic services.

Kinesiology has close links with the concept of energy flow in acupuncture, however, Kinesiology is not just a therapy for correcting ailments; when a person’s energy is in balance, they are closer to performing at their most balanced and nearer their highest potential. It can therefore bring you closer to achieving any goal: sport, relationships, academic work, etc.

Muscle testing works because the musculature of the body is a natural feedback system that acts as a precision indicator with information supplied by the nerve pathways and energy meridians of the body. Muscle monitoring techniques are applied to identify and correct energy blockages within the body. The basic theory here, of course, is that physical, chemical, and mental imbalances are associated with a muscle inhibition that usually precedes an over-facilitation of an opposing muscle. The great advantage of applied kinesiology is that it’s a non-invasive therapy that can quickly locate the right treatment for a patient.
